Psimeni Raki
Psimeni Raki is an Amorgian sweet drink that can be drunk either as appetizer or as digestif, however it is the favourite treat of the locals in weddings, celebrations and treats. Psimeni Raki (literally translated as roasted raki) is a drink based on the – popular in Crete – Raki, a crystal white alcoholic beverage. Raki is boiled and mixed with honey, clove and cinnamon, and is usually homemade. However, there are some local brands that bottle the drink to take it with you on your way home.
Psimeni Raki is the typical drink that the monks of Panayia Chozoviotisa treat to the visitors of the Monastery.
